Crochet Scarf - Lion Brand Vanna's Glamour

I finally got around to take some photos of my latest project to show you guys.  The pattern was from Lion Brand.  The skill level for this scarf is advanced intermediate.  I used different kind of yarn and color suggested on the pattern.  The original pattern suggests one color of yarn.  I made up the combination of earth and lime green for a trendy, colorful yet subtle design.  The yarn I used was 100% bamboo which is great for autumn and spring.  I like the way it turns out.  What do you think?

Pray for CHCH & Japan; Hair ties for school gala

Pray for Christchurch & Japan

It has been horrible two months for two countries.  In Feb 2011, we experienced a horrifying earthquake in Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zealand.  Before we come to terms with the lost of people's lives and historic buildings, Japan had one with a much larger scale in March.  Within a short period of three weeks, unaccountable lives have lost and cities were destroyed.  I have learned that we are, as human being, only small and are not comparable to our mother nature.  Should we be humble to our environment and be respectful to our creator?  My thoughts are with the people in San Dai in Japan and in Christchurch in New Zealand.

Hair ties for school gala

School gala will be happening in one week time.  I decided to be part of the gala for this year and so I offered to help the handcrafted stall by making hair ties for them to sell.  I wanted to make some hair ties that appeal to kids and therefore I did not focus on the type of yarns but focus on the color.  I bought acrylic yarns from Spotlights and the yarns are in rather bright and attractive color.

I really like them.  I hope these hair ties sell best in the stall.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!

My daughter asked me if I knew today is Valentines Day.  "Yes, dear" I replied to her.  "I did not receive anything, mum.  What about you?  Did daddy give you any flowers?" she asked.  I had to hold myself from laughing because I told my husband not to buy any flowers.  I just do not want him spending way too much on a bunch of flowers just for the sake of Valentines Day.  Most of all, I would rather receive flowers every week than just one day a year (yes, I am greedy, huh!).

I have found some lovely and cute heart patterns to share with you on this Valentines Day.

You can create this cute heart shape using any waste yarns.  It is very easy to do.  I have made two within a few minutes or may be less than that.  Once you have finished, you can attach it onto a hair clip and it will make a perfect little gift for your little darling.  To make it more interesting, add some crystal beads or even embroider a little flower on top.  Let your creativity go wild!

Isn't this cute? This is a measuring tape and here is the link:

Susan B. Anderson is the creator of this cute pattern.  Susan's projects and patterns are very inspiring.  She has some amazing hats and toys patterns.  Check out her blog:

This adorable hat was created by Lindsay Ingram.  You can find her patterns for sale on the Ravelry website.  To buy this pattern, go to http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/i-carry-your-heart

I love browsing Ravelry website.  It has so much to offer for a crafty person like me.  There are a lot of amazing knitters and crocheters share their projects on the website.  You can get free or buy patterns from the website.

Happy Valentines Day, everyone!  Happy knitting/crocheting!!!!
